What a find this CD is—and who would have thought harps could be so hip? Electric harpists Midyne Spear, Jill Meniketti, and Lynne Reardon create a sound that raises the spirit while calming the mind. Alternately joyfully upbeat and ethereally transcendent, Electric Angel has a sound somewhat reminiscent at times of Shadowfax, but definitely all their own. The first cut, the all-instrumental "Awakening," features the unique sound of the electric harp, weaving together the virtuoso skills of all three women. Subsequent songs highlight their songwriting and singing abilities, and their cover of Stevie Wonder's "Higher Ground" will raise your appreciation of how much soul a harp can really have. Electric Angel seems bound for glory.
